After a last minute invite to this competition, a team was pulled together quickly for this fixture. Unfortunately on the day hay fever and a couple of injury niggles did mean a few athletes had to pull out at the last minute which did mean our small team shrunk considerably and this meant that unfortunately we had no female athletes on the track at all!
The competition was strong and our athletes showed their winter training had paid off with some very positive early times including a number of PBs. The field events were very strong especially the long jump where the winners were changing after each jump. The throws events were also fiercely competed too. Thanks to Jordan Allen (800m 2.06.72 SB A) Thomas Keenan (800m 2.19.66 SB 2nd B), Daniel Ogun (LJ 6.52 3rd, 100m 11.26 SB 3rd, 200m SB 3rd 23.06) Matthew Amanor-Boadu (400m 4th 53.39PB 200m 24.65 PB B string) Sid Walters (HJ 1.85 SB 1st) Nile Cook (Discus 3rd 37.87 PB ) Emma Lawrence (Javelin 1st SB 34.87 ) Yasmin Henlon (LJ 4th 4.42 PB & HJ 3rd 1.45) Thanks to our Officials, Paul, Colin & Mandy and to John for coming to support. We hope to be invited again next year and with more support and full team I really feel we could contend for the trophies which would look very nice in our club room cabinet!
