Appeal to all SAL Clubs
On behalf of Basingstoke & Mid Hants Athletics Club (BMHAC) I am asking for your help. Many of you have visited our Down Grange track in Basingstoke and are aware of the limited trackside facilities on offer. All this could change with your help. BMHAC have been given a fantastic opportunity to win £200,000. This means our long standing plans to build proper trackside facilities and spectator seating can become a reality. Last year we secured planning permission and support from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council. If we win the £200,000 we can move forward with the build. Our aim is to win the public vote in the Persimmon Homes Healthy Communities Scheme. Voting is open until 16th March 2018. Below is a link to our 2 minute ‘VOTE BASINGSTOKE ATHLETICS’ video on Youtube, outlining our current struggles and plans for spectator facilities. I also attach a link to the Persimmon Homes voting webpage. Voting is easy: A simple click. No need to register or log in. Each person can cast one vote every day until voting closes. We are appealing to the Athletics community for help. Please can you place a notice on your club website, with the links, and encourage your members to vote for us. Social media will play a big role in the voting process so any sharing and promotion of our cause would be greatly appreciated. Every vote will count. Regards Mick Bromilow Following on from the indoor Sportshall we were delighted to have two of our athletes from our small U13 Girls team, Nicole Williams and Emily Scantlebury, selected to trial for the Surrey Indoor Sportshall Team. Unfortunately Emily just missed out on the final team selection .
Congratulations to Nicole Wiliams who will be competing for Surrey on Sunday 4th March. In addition, Nicole has been named U13G of the league and will receive her award at the forthcoming Surrey Awards ceremony. We are very proud of both of these athletes and also wish Nicole and the Surrey Team luck at the Finals. |
