2019 Awards - all were nominated by their fellow athletes.
Certificates will be presented at our annual awards night at the end of November.
Ben Gillham, Maureen Hancock Coaching Group
Reason for award : Ben was nominated by his fellow athletes as he is very encouraging to all other members of the group. Ben had a fantastic cross country season where he competed regularly; both supporting the team and others. His coach feels that his continued commitment will see him improve this year on the track and also achieve the chance of running in the Mini Marathon. He is a very valued member of the middle distance group and also a very valued member of Sutton & District AC.
Ben decided to purchase t-shirts for his group with his award money.
Marissa Welch, Mandy Walters Coaching Group
Reason for award : Marissa was nominated for the award by a number of athletes within her training group. Her coaches thoroughly supported the nomination. Since joining the club Marissa has always been supportive of other members of the group and is always keen to involve the new members as they join the group. Marissas commitment to training and competition has always meant she is there to act as role model to the younger members. She has a positive attitude and a friendly outlook. A well deserved winner.
Marissa decided to put her award money to the benefit of the other club members throughout the club. A nutrition course was held and the funding supported this.
Emily Scantlebury, William Ofei-Kwatia Coaching Group
Reason for award : Emily was nominated for the award by a fellow athlete. Emily is always supportive and kind, She has encouraged me to do my best and never give up. She always works very hard in training and had a great season last year. This year looks just as good. She really deserves this award.
Emily spent her award money on a fun trip for her fellow athletes and they went to liquid leisure.
Callum Holder; Mark Briggs & Tony Ganios coaching groups.
Reason for award : Callum has been with the club since he was 11 years old he is a truly valued member of the club and very committed to competing and training. He is very supportive of the new members in the group demoing drills and technique and encouraging others. At comps he really is a team player stepping in when needed. This year he had concerns for himself and whether to continue but he didn't give up and showed great resilience and has gone onto achieve Gold county medals in his disciplines. Again this has inspired others too. This has all lead to Callum being nominated by his fellow team mates who all feel he really deserves the award. He is a great role model for all.
Callum has decided to spend his award on his training groups and has organised a lunch during half term.
